Moving with a Cold

As some of you know, well those of you who read my other blog over at Add Deal, you will know that a couple of weeks ago I recently moved home, again, this will be my 3rd or 4th move in around 3 years, so at least once a year at the moment I am averaging on moving around the different parts of Torquay.

Now as I’m sure most of you know, moving is a stressful time for anyone, but if you then add-on top of that a virus that gives you one hell of a temperature, a throat that feels like razors, no energy and a bad head, followed by all you want to do is snuggle up in bed and sleep – you then have an even bigger problem on your hands, not to mention that, that same weekend I had my family come down from the different areas of the UK.

Anyway, moving day, how did it go, well to be honest, it was a complete disaster in some respects, it was touch and go on the property we were moving into prior to the move as we had to ensure we had all the funds necessary and to be fair once we had all the funds it was then a case of getting up there and back before the moving day.

So on the day before we finally had all the funds and off we went to pay for the initial deposit and the rent in advance.

On the day we moved, the removers turned 1 hour 30 minutes late and were moving us till around 18:00 that evening, and even once they had finished it soon became apparent that not all of the different bits and bobs were here.  So off me and my partner went to the old property where we discovered all the different bits that they had left behind.

There was also damaged caused to some of the furniture and have caused a major mark on our new home walls.  What was more annoying was the fact the removal guys didn’t even bother to put the fridge freezer where we wanted it.  Everything was hauled into one room, which was fine as it gave us more room, but not so fine when your trying to get things out of there.

By the end of the moving in day the front room had been set up and the TV was on, no aerial point so we had to make do with Lord of the Rings and a Chinese.  The moving team we will not be using again and to be honest, I don’t think I will be moving for a good few years yet as I want to start putting some roots down and making a start on things.

So the move went ok, and as I write this I am presently awaiting for a Virgin Media guy to come and set up the broadband for me so that I can get back online permanently, rather than through a dongle.

A Driving Exam

The New Car

The New Car

So at the start of the month I took my first exam in almost4 months, yep you got it I took my driving practical examination on the 1st of February 2012 and to my surprise I past my exam with a few snags but either way I managed to pass my exam and I am now a fully qualified driver, well at least in an automatic.

I must admit the build up to the exam had been filled with a mixture of different emotions from being totally scared and absolutely bricking myself through to calm and excitement about the prospect of passing my exam.  So on that day when it came to the exam my driving instructor picked me up as he always did at 0820 in the morning and off we went for my hours driving lesson before my exam.

My lesson was a total foul up with several stupid mistakes being made including, misjudging a round about, doing 35 in a 40 and making a total foul up on my reversing.  It was at this point I thought I know I’m going to fail this, we might as well just pack up and go home… defeated before you even got started you might say.

Anyway, the time had come to go the test centre in Newton Abbot, and before I knew it I was in the car with a driving examiner.  I remembered the lessons that I had learned from my previous exam which were to drive at a speed I am comfortable with but also with confidence, I was determined that this time I will not fail.

I gave the exam everything I had from turning in the road to, turning into a small country lane, I caught myself doing over the speed limit on numerous occasions, so I quickly rectified the problem and began to do either bang on the speed or a couple of miles under.  He took me around the dreaded round about that I had misjudged on my lesson, but this time… I approached and did it perfectly – although even now I’m still apprehensive about driving around a round about.

Finally we made it back to the test center and my driving examiner turned to me and had said quite simply well you’ve passed.  Me being me, let out an almighty YES!!! I think even the examiner must have thought I was strange.

So there you have it as of the 1st of this month I am now a fully qualified driver.

Now to help you I have enclosed the links to all of my pages within this blog post, take a look and let me know what your think.

Good Afternoon

I said that I would get round to writing one of these posts a couple of days ago, I have only just remembered that this does need doing.  So here goes, my name is Robert Andrew Haylor, I am 24 years of age, I live with my partner who is 15 years my senior, she has two children one with down syndrome, they are both aged under 13.

Like many people my life has been filled with the ups and downs of various different problems, that life has a tendency to throw at us.  As I say I’m 24 years old and I have been working for myself since the age of 21.  I have not been successful in my businesses, however, all that is about to change with my current venture.

My first business was a web development organisation, that I had to give up due to my mental health, as I went through a period of 9 months of intensive counselling.  My second business was a limited company, and at present I am currently going through all the different legal jargon of having the company removed.

I’m also Bachelor degree educated and spent just over 2 years at Birmingham City University, formerly the UCE (University of Central England).  I also have 3 A Levels one in Business Studies, another in ICT and my third and final A Level is in E-Business.  I also have a GNVQ in IT as well as a CLAIT level one.

My hobbies and interests include a wide range of different activities from going on country walks to stay at home and curling up with a DVD.

I think that’s all for now… will be working on my blog over the next couple of weeks.

Hope you enjoyed reading this, if you like leave me a comment and I will try to reply to you.
